Mistake Mine

Located on Sam Powell Peak, the Mistake mine consists of the unique Box Canyon Magnesium deposits containing Ramsdellite. The Mistake mine is no longer a producer of Magnesium. Although, mineral collectors seek out Ramsdellite for its unique crystal structure.

There are two different levels to access the mine—you can find the first and more accessible access point (adit) near the top of the mine. The second “bottom” adit area is only accessible by climbing up a metal cable near the north side of the mine.
