A Year of Updates: AAMHC Project, New Store, and New Featured Mine

Hello fellow explorers,

It’s been about a year since my last post, and a lot has happened. The most significant update is the launch of my new store. Although currently limited to one item, I am testing the waters to gauge interest in Abandoned Mines AZ branded merchandise. I currently have a branded trucker style cap on sale, but plan to add another style hat along with t-shirts as well. Go check it out!

The second update is the addition of a new mine to the website. I just added the Tonopah-Belmont Mine to the website today! I’ve explored the Tonopah-Belmont Mine on a couple of occasions, first in 2016 and later in 2021, when I was able to examine the interior of the mine. The Tonopah-Belmont Mine is an interesting mine with a fascinating history, including the state’s efforts to close the mine to explorers, which leads me into my third update.

My many years of exploration, research, and recent noticeable trends have led me to define and structure my passion into a project. The Arizona Abandoned Mine Historical Cataloging Project (AAMHC) is my newly outlined project with a set goal. This website, along with my Facebook and Instagram pages, is part of the project’s creations. In short, my goal is to create a visual and readable catalog of Arizona’s Abandoned Mines. Many of these historical sites are deteriorating at alarming rates, and federal and state governments are doing very little to preserve them. Through historical storytelling and photographs, I hope to inspire more people to take an interest in these sites and create more cause for their preservation. You can read more about the project and how you can contribute here.
