Mining Districts

Mining district is a loss term originating in the mid-1800s. Miners and mining men used the word to describe sections of the country “within which mineral is found and which is worked under rules and regulations prescribed by the miners therein.” The abundant abandoned mines within Arizona are concentrated in specific mining districts. To help understand where each district is located, I’ve added and general locality to each district. Click on any of the districts to see the mines in that district.
